I’m reaching out to my diabetic participants because I want to make sure you find ways to cope and stay healthy during this crazy time. Your mental health is of the utmost importance and I want to make sure you reach out to us if you are in need of a pick me up or call your therapist. We are here for you. Read positive books, write in a journal, create a gratitude journal anything that gets you to think happy thoughts.
The second thing is to get moving. I encourage you to go outside, even in your own back yard and walk around-LOTS! It’s going to be really hard to maintain your glucose numbers if you aren’t moving. Don’t forget that I have videos on my Facebook page that you can do anytime and if you want to do them live, they are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 am. I promise I’ll get your heart rate up!
Your diet is also important and getting the right nutrients to keep your blood sugars balanced is still super vital. We don’t have much to do, so be creative by trying a new recipe each week. Tonight, Mackenzie and I are making black bean enchiladas with the protein tortillas and I made a crock pot of meat for my boys who are still meat eaters.
The important thing is to not just sit all day, get depressed, eat junk and feel more depressed. We will get through this and we will be back to the pool in no time at all. In the future, we will look back on this as a blip in time so let’s make the best of it and stay on course.
